Fair Work Modern Awards and some Agreements stipulate Ordinary Hours of Work within a spread of hours (Block Times or start and finish times), Maximum daily hours (Normal Hours) and Period Hours (hours within a period).
The release of Wagemaster V7.2.0.8154 allows for configuration of each of these within a single Block Times Award.
In Block Times Awards, Normal hours option has been added, allowing for the set up of a maximum number of normal hours within a spread of hours. With this setup, if the Normal hours are exceeded, overtime will be paid (if set up).
For example, the General Retail Industry Award stipulates Ordinary Hours of work as follows:
27.2 Ordinary hours
(a) Except as provided in clause 27.2(b), ordinary hours may be worked, within the following spread of hours:
Days | Spread of hours |
Monday to Friday, inclusive | 7.00 am- 9.00 pm |
Saturday | 7.00 am- 6.00 pm |
Sunday | 7.00 am- 6.00 pm |
27.3 Maximum ordinary hours on a day
(a) An employee may be rostered to work up to a maximum of nine ordinary hours on any day, provided that for one day per week an employee can be rostered for 11 hours.
28.1 A full-time employee will be rostered for an average of 38 hours per week, worked in any of the following forms or by agreement over a longer period.
Would be setup in Wagemaster as follows:
In instances where hours worked in a day exceed 9, overtime is paid. Also, if hours worked in a day fall outside of the spread of hours (i.e. on a Monday, outside 7:00 – 21:00), but within the Normal hours (9hrs), then overtime would be paid. And if the total hours worked exceeds 38 hours in the week, then Period Overtime would be paid.
