Note: Working offline in a shared file will disable the “File In Use” feature in File Manager as there is no internet connection to detect 'File in Use'. Without an internet connection, the Agrimaster server cannot detect who is in the file and when.
When Can I Work Offline?
When working offline in a file you have shared that has edit permission.
You have two options:
Option 1
- Change the share permission to Read Only.
Read Only access ensures the file cannot be edited either online or offline. - To save the changes you have made in the file whilst you are using it offline you need to reconnect to the internet and your file will backup to File Manager - you will see a revised file in File Manager with the date and time that it was backed up.
You can then change the permission back to the original preferences if you choose.
Note: Updating permissions does not notify other users when changed.
Option 2
If you don’t want to update the sharing permissions then:
- Let the user you have shared with that you are working offline and not to edit the file.
- To ensure the file is not duplicated, advise them to open the file in Read Only mode until you let them know otherwise.
Who Should I Inform When Working Offline?
If the file is shared and you intend to work offline either change all the share preferences to View Only or let the other users know not to edit the file at this time.
What Should I Do If The Internet Drops Out?
If you lose internet connection whilst you are working in the file, let other users know not to edit the file at this time. You may continue working on the file offline.
To save the changes you have made in the file whilst you were using it offline you need to reconnect to the internet and your file will backup to File Manager - you will see a revised file in File Manager with the date and time that it was backed up.
When Should I Use Read Only?
You can open a file in Read Only to view data and run reports in Agrimaster whenever you want to. Any changes made to the file will NOT be saved. When you close the file you have open as Read Only no record is added to File Manager history so you will not see a new version of the file.
What To Do When Someone Else Is In The File
You can open a file in Read Only to view data and run reports in Agrimaster whenever you want to. Any changes made to the file will NOT be saved.
