Asset SubClass

A sub class is useful if you have a large number of items within a class and wish to break them up into smaller groups (sub classes) 

Add a SubClass 

To add a SubClass:

  1. Click the subclass classification Edit  button on the Set Asset Details window to open the Asset List window 

  2. In Choose SubClass to Modify dialogue box, select Enter New SubClass
  3. Enter the new SubClass in the SubClass Name
  4. Click on the green tick  to save the changes and return to the Set Asset Details window 

Edit a SubClass 

To edit a SubClass:

  1. Click the Edit   button on the Set Asset Details window to open the Asset List window 

  2. In The Asset List Window Select the subclass to modify in the Choose SubClass to Modify field 
  3. Make the changes in the Edit SubClass box
  4. Click the green tick  to save the changes and return to the Set Asset Details window 

Deactivate a SubClass

Once a sub-class has been used in the Asset Register, it cannot be deleted. The option to make the subclass inactive removes it from the drop down menu but does not remove it from the Asset Register.  

To make a Sub Class inactive:

  1. Click the Edit button on the Set Asset Details Screen to the right hand side of Sub Class field 
  2. Select the sub class you wish to deactivate in the Choose SubClass to Modify dropdown list 
  3. Untick the Is Active? checkbox 
  4. Click on the green tick  to save the changes and return to the Set Asset Details window

 

Delete a SubClass 

A Sub Classification can only be deleted if it has not been used as an asset detail.

To edit a SubClass:  

  1. Click the subclass Edit  button on Set Asset Details window  to open the Asset List window
  2. Click the dropdown arrow in the Choose SubClass to Modify field and select the sub class to be removed
  3. Click the Delete  button  to remove the entry
  4. Click the green tick  to save the changes and return to the Set Asset Details window
