The Accounts section (also referred to as Bank Accounts) in the Budget Grid gives you a clear view of your cash position across your budget timeline. It brings together your balances, cashflow, and GST movements in one place.
1. Total of Balances
At the top of the Budget Grid, you’ll see the Total of Balances.
This includes:
Opening Balance (inclusive of GST)
Running balance across the entire budget period
This figure provides a high-level snapshot of your overall financial position.
2. Accounts
Just below, you’ll find the Accounts header.
Here, you can also see the current period you’re viewing. This may be:
The full budget period, or
A custom date range you’ve selected
3. Primary Account
The Primary Account is your main working account.
In most cases, this is the account used for day-to-day transactions, such as a farm cheque account.
Within this section, you can view:
Account name and details
Opening Balance
Running Balance (including GST) across the budget timeline
4. Cashflow Activity
Directly below the running balance is Cashflow Activity.
This shows:
Forecast cash movement excluding GST
Values displayed across the budget timeline
If cashflow is negative:
It will appear as a negative value
It will be highlighted in red for visibility
5. GST Account
As part of your budget setup, you nominate a GST account.
In some cases, your Primary Account may also be your GST account.
Here, you’ll see:
GST Remittance and Refunds
These are displayed across the budget timeline.
6. Additional Accounts
To view other accounts, click Additional Accounts.
These commonly include:
Credit card accounts
Loan accounts
Once expanded, each account will display:
Opening Balance
Running Balance (including GST)
Cashflow Activity (excluding GST)
7. How Values Are Calculated
All values in the Accounts section are automatically calculated.
For example:
When you enter a value into a budget code and press Enter
The system will automatically update:
The Primary Account running balance
The Cashflow Activity
The Total of Balances
This ensures your budget always reflects the most up-to-date financial position.
